The Next-Generation Pharmacist® program (“Program”) is designed to recognize pharmacy professionals who are defining the future of pharmacy. The national awards program recognizes and honors pharmacists, technicians, student pharmacists and industry advocates. Now in its eighth year, the program includes 10 categories. Judges of the Program are not eligible as nominees and as such cannot self-nominate. Notwithstanding the foregoing, individuals may be nominated for as many categories as are appropriate. Nominators can submit as many nominations as they like. Multiple nominations in a single category do not increase chances of winning. Individuals who were nominated or won awards in the Program in previous years are eligible to be nominated or win in the 2017 Program.
Persons in any of the following categories are ineligible (a) persons who since January 1, 2017 were or are employees or agents of Parata Systems, LLC, Pharmacy and Healthcare Communications, LLC, the promotion administrator; or their respective parent company, subsidiaries, affiliates, service agencies, sponsors and any independent contractors of any kind of the above organizations; (b) individuals engaged in the development, production, or distribution of materials or the implementation of the Awards (including, but not limited to those individuals judging the Program); and (c) employees of the persons in the immediate family of, or persons living in the same household as any person in any of the preceding categories.
Nominations must be written in English. Nominations that do not fully comply with the requirements set forth herein may be disqualified. Nominations must not infringe any third-party rights and must not defame or invade publicity rights or the privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe on any person’s personal or proprietary rights. No methods of entry other than the methods specifically described herein will be accepted. Sponsors are not responsible for lost, late, misdirected or incomplete entries or unsuccessful attempts to enter. Incomplete entries and/or entries not received by the deadlines will not be eligible.
All eligible entries will be evaluated by an independent panel of esteemed judges, chaired by Pharmacy Times’ Editor-in-Chief Troy Trygstad. The judging panel’s decisions are final and binding on all matters relating to the Awards. Up to three (3) finalists will be named in each category. If a finalist is nominated in multiple categories that finalist will only be eligible for an award in the category in which he/she scored highest. The entries will be judged on the following criteria: professional standards, namely, evidence that the nominee has displayed the highest standards with regard to the tenets of the pharmacy profession, including commitment to patient care, ethical judgment, and customer service (35 points); experience, namely, the strength of the nominee’s background in pharmacy and how it relates to the specific category he/she has entered; years of experience appropriate to category (20 points); and advancement to the profession, namely, the strength of evidence that the nominee has made a significant contribution(s) to the pharmacy profession as a whole through his or her individual work; proof of leadership to advance the profession; clear evidence of mentorship, if applicable to category (45 points). Finalists will be notified by telephone and/or email on or before June 15, 2017. Winners of the Awards will be announced at the Next-Generation Pharmacist awards ceremony held on August 19, 2017, in San Diego, California. Odds of winning will depend upon the total number of eligible entries received. For a list of finalists and/or winners, send a separate self-addressed, stamped envelope to Parata Systems, LLC, 2600 Meridian Parkway, Durham, North Carolina, 27713.
Winners of the Awards will receive a trophy in recognition of their achievement. All costs and expenses associated with the Award acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided such as reservation fees, taxes, insurance, cellular charges, gratuities, and other expenses incurred by accepting the Award are the sole responsibility of the Winner. Winner is responsible for paying any necessary State and Federal taxes related to the Award. The limit is one (1) winner per category. There is a total of ten (10) categories. Additionally, one (1) winner will receive the Next-Generation Pharmacist Award. Finalists will be notified by telephone and/or email on or before June 15, 2017. Sponsors reserve the right to have the potential winner sign and return to Sponsors, within ten (10) days of prize notification, an affidavit of eligibility, and liability/publicity release (except where prohibited) in order to claim his/her prize if applicable. If a potential winner of any prize cannot be contacted, fails to sign and return the affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release within the required time period (if applicable), or if the prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, potential winner forfeits prize. Upon disqualification, the Award will be forfeited and no compensation will be given. Awards are not transferable. No cash or prize substitutions, except the sponsor reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value.

Sponsors reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Program and/or Awards, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond Sponsors’ reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Program and/or Awards, as determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion.
