(CRANBURY, N.J. – April 9, 2019) – Pharmacy Times®, the leading media resource for pharmacists, in conjunction with Parata Systems will host the 2019 Next-Generation Pharmacist® Awards ceremony and gala on Friday, October 25, at the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, California.
“We are proud to celebrate the achievements of those in pharmacy who look to better the lives of patients in their communities,” said Mark Longley, executive vice president of sales and marketing of Parata Systems. “Nominations are rolling in each day to recognize the importance of the pharmacist in health care, and it’s our pleasure to honor and elevate the role of pharmacy.”
“The gala is designed to celebrate the accomplishments of professionals in the pharmacy industry who are making a true impact on their patients and communities,” said Brian Haug, president of Pharmacy and Healthcare Communications, LLC. “Each year, we look forward to partnering with Parata to host this incredible event and this 10th annual celebration will be extraordinary.”
To honor the leadership and passion of the finalists, judges, sponsors and attendees, guests will be treated to an encore performance by comedian and renowned guitarist Mike Rayburn. Rayburn uses world-class guitar skills and comedy to inspire innovation and leadership.
The Next-Generation Pharmacist® Awards program recognizes pioneers, innovators and future leaders in the pharmacy industry. Pharmacist nominations represent chain, independent and specialty pharmacies; government and academic institutions; long-term care facilities; and health-system pharmacists. Since 2010, the awards program has generated over 3,000 peer nominations across all 50 states and honored nearly 300 pharmacy leaders as finalists and winners.
The awards gala offers pharmacy professionals the opportunity to socialize and share their efforts in advancing the profession. When asked about the program, Amina Abubakar, 2018 Entrepreneur Winner remarked, “I was extremely honored to receive such a prestigious award, 2018 Entrepreneur of the year. I am resolutely grateful and humbled for the recognition I have received for my work, because I am very sure that every other honoree for this award was capable of winning. Thank you for putting on an amazing event honoring all of us in this profession.”
The 2019 Next-Generation Pharmacist® Awards program includes 10 categories. Nominations may be submitted through April 30, 2019. An independent panel of esteemed judges, chaired by Troy Trygstad, PharmD, Ph.D., MBA, editor-in-chief of Pharmacy Times®, will evaluate entries. Up to three finalists will be named in each category.
